Traffic diverted and emergency services called after blaze in Doncaster street

Emergency services had to close off a busy Doncaster road this afternoon after a motorcycle went up in flames in the street.

A fire engine was sent to the scene at Church Balk, in Edenthorpe, early this afternoon after the vehicle had caught fire.

A fire service spokesman said the fire had was believed to have started accidentally. It is believed there may have been some sort of engine fault.

The fire was out by 1pm, when the firefighters from Doncaster Fire Station, left the scene.

They used a hose reel to put the fire out.

No one was injured in the incident.

The blaze forces bus company First to divert its services in Armthorpe, with the 84, 84A, 84B all affected, with single deckers diverting via Wheatley Hall Road and Barnby Dun Rd, and double deckers diverting via Thorne Road and Armthrope Lane, operating the wrong way through Kirk Sandall, then onto Doncaster Road.
