Man taken to Doncaster hospital after collision with car

An elderly man has been taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car.

Emergency services were first spotted on the scene, on the corner of Printing Office Street and Priory Place, just after 3pm this afternoon.

Two paramedics were attending to the man who appeared to have a head injury. An eye-witness said he had been hit by a taxi. Two police officers also stood nearby.

Two police cars were parked at the top of Printing Office Street to prevent traffic from coming on to the street. Two officers were seen directing traffic.

A police van was also parked outside the Free Press office, also on Printing Office street.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to reports of a collision in Printing Office Street, Doncaster at about 3pm this afternoon.

It is believed that a car, a red Peugeot, was involved in a collision with a male pedestrian.

The man has been taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road was temporarily closed while the incident was dealt with.”

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Ambulance Trust said: “We were called at 14.56pm to reports of a car and a pedestrian being involved in a collision.

“We sent an ambulance and we took a male in his 70s to Doncaster Royal Infirmary. His injuries are unknown.”
