Crash causing major disruption on A1(M) motorway near Doncaster

Highways England said traffic had been stopped on the southbound carriageway between junctions 39 and 38 while the scene is assessed.

It warned motorists to expect delays of around 30 minutes but said traffic was expected to return to normal between 7pm and 7.15pm.

Highways England tweeted at 6pm: “#A1M southbound J39 #BarnsdaleBar to J38 #Redhouse #Doncaster.

“There has been an accident & vehicles are currently in live lanes.

“Traffic has been stopped whilst the scene is being assessed.

“#TrafficOfficers on scene with @SYPOperations.”
