Doncaster is set to be part of a worldwide peace event this weekend, joining cities across the globe in meditation.
The event, which is being held at the Doncaster Deaf Trust’s Leger Way campus from 10am until 11.30am on Saturday, is entitled The Planet Meditates 2013, and is part of the biggest simultaneous meditation for peace.
It has been organised by volunteers of the Art for Living Foundation.
More than 300 towns, cities and villages around the world are expected to host similar events in their respective countries.
New York, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Madrid, New Delhi, Moscow and Cairo are among those where people will gather to promote peace and happiness.
The event, which is free to attend, supports the International Day of Peace, which commemorates and strengthens the ideals of peace in all nations.
Dr Ravi Karwa, organiser of the event in Doncaster, said: “We are very much looking forward to it. Taking care of the mind is as important as looking after the body.
“Meditation nourishes the mind and is a wonderful experience for all. I hope as many people as possible come down and be part of something very special.”
Bobbie Roberts of Doncaster Deaf Trust, said: “It is a privilege and an honour to be hosting such an international event. We wish Dr Ravi and his team all the very best – I am sure it will be a great success.”
