Dog waste bins that were distributed around Epworth have been recalled after a resident made a complaint.

Juliet Matthews of Ellers Lane in Epworth was at the last Epworth Town Council meeting to complain about a dog waste bin that had been placed outside her house.

She told town councillors she was upset not to have been consulted about the siting of the bin and asked for it to be removed.

Chairman of Epworth Town Council, Gary Moore, said: “The bins were installed by North Lincolnshire Council on North Lincolnshire Council land. We requested this on behalf of residents who wanted more dog waste bins in specific areas.

“Mrs Matthews said the bin outside her house would prevent her from cutting her hedge properly. We assured her the matter would be sorted out and the bins have now been taken away. They will be put out again but not necessarily in the same locations. Unfortunately there was no consultation last time but residents will be consulted first on this occasion.”

A spokeswoman for North Lincolnshire Council said: “Our Highways and Neighbourhood Services team was asked to supply and fit two dog waste bins for a couple of areas in Epworth. We assumed a consultation exercise had been carried out by the town council. The bin should have been removed now.”
