Top marks for Isle primary school

Education watchdogs have upgraded an Isle primary school's effectiveness to '˜outstanding'.

Praise flows for leadership, teaching, pupils’ attainment and wider development at West Butterwick C of E Primary School, in an Ofsted report released before half term.

It’s a double triumph for the 48-pupil school which is linked with another Isle primary, both operating as voluntary schools under the Trentside Federation and the same executive headteacher, Josephine Buckle.

Last autumn West Butterwick was rated best state primary school in the Epworth area by website www.schoolsguide.co.uk, that monitors schools’ performance over the previous year according to key data.

The last grading by Ofsted for the school was ‘good’.

This report said: “High quality teaching, learning and assessment combined with a strong sense of care is evident throughout the school.”
