The 27-year-old midfielder became Rovers’ first signing of the summer on Wednesday, penning a three-year deal following his release from Wolves and an impressive loan stint at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Speaking to The Star, Rowe said he was confident he was joining a club that will very quickly rise again following their relegation to League Two.

“I had a number of options but this felt like the complete package,” said Rowe, who also played under boss Darren Ferguson at Peterborough United.

“There was an opportunity to play in the league above.

“So it wasn’t an easy decision by any means - but it was the right decision.

“The big thing for me was that I was able to come here and play games.

“The last two years, because of injuries, I’ve not progressed as much as I wanted to. But I know that I will get the chance to play games here.

“As soon as I arrived at Doncaster on loan it felt right, so getting something more permanent sorted has been on my mind from early on.

“Obviously it was very disappointing to get relegated and I felt that pain as much as the lads who have been here a lot longer. It was soul-destroying, and I want to help put that right next season.

“The fans have been great, even through the difficult times, and that was another factor for me.

“We’re in League Two now but this is a Championship club.

“I believe this club will be on the up again very soon, and I’m looking forward to being part of that.”
