A Doncaster kids’ football club has been targeted by thieves in an overnight raid.

Thieves made off with a second-hand television and some soft drinks and sweets when the Armthorpe Rovers Junior football club in Wickett Hern Road, Armthorpe was broken into on Sunday night.

Damage was also caused to the storage garage, although nothing of any value was stolen from it.

The sweets and soft drinks stolen in the break-in were being used to raise funds for the children at the club.

In a statement on their website a spokesman for the club said: “Armthorpe Rovers hopes that the community can let the police know if they hear of anybody trying to sell this type of stock within the village.

“We shall repair the damage through the help of volunteers and fund raisers but hopefully those responsible never require the help and support of a facility like ours.

They continued: “These people are the lowest of the low to steal from a volounterry (sic) community club that provides many of the local kids with a constructive use of there (sic) spare time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire police on 101.
