Thieves break in to home of 91-year-old Doncaster man

A 91-year-old man has been left shaken after callous thieves broke into his home and stole a TV and camera.

The pensioner was upstairs in his home in Stanley Gardens, Stainforth when he heard a noise and realised the property was missing when he went downstairs to investigate.

After going outside the victim was greeted by another man who returned the stolen items, after he spotted two men carrying them in the street.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the burglary that happened at about 10.30pm on Sunday.

Officers investigating the matter would particularly like to speak to the man who saw the two alleged offenders during that evening.

Detective Constable Ian Jefferies, the investigating officer, said: “We are extremely keen to trace the man who is believed to have approached the two alleged offenders and then returned the stolen property to its owner.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw anyone acting suspiciously.”
