Wetherspoons has announced that 400 of its pubs will re-open for outdoor service and eating from April 12 – but some of its bars will stay closed.

Yesterday, the chain announced that venues with beer gardens would be back in business from next month – including all of its Doncaster bars.

But the firm has now amended its list of which pubs in Doncaster will return – and the rules in place for those that do.

Yesterday, Wetherspoons said The Gate House in Priory Walk, The Running Horse at Doncaster Sheffield Airport and Old Market Hall, Mexborough would be back for customers as part of the easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

But those three will now stay shut after the chain issued a revised list.

However, the Red Lion in the Market Place will start serving again – but with a number of rules in place.

The pub will be open from 9am to 9pm (Sunday to Thursday inclusive) and 9am to 10pm (Friday and Saturday).

It will offer a slightly reduced menu, to include breakfast, burgers, pizza, deli deals, fish and chips and British classics. Food will be available from 9am to 8pm seven days a week.

Customers will be able to order and pay through the Wetherspoon app, however, staff will be able to take orders and payment at the table from those who don’t have the app.

The pub will not be operating a booking system.

Customers will be able to enter the pub to gain access to the outside area and also to use the toilet, but only the beer garden will be open for service.

Test and trace will be in operation and hand sanitisers will be available.

Pub manager Andrew Haith said: “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back after a long time away.”
