Teenagers gear up for citizenship

A SCHEME to get Doncaster teenagers involved in helping their communities is to run for another year.

Doncaster Positive Futures will be bringing the National Citizen Service to the borough this summer.

The scheme for year 11 school leavers begins with a residential week at an activity centre in North Yorkshire followed by a second week at Hatfield Water Park. The fortnight aims to build the teenagers’ skills and confidence ahead of a final week of social action.

During the final stage of the scheme, the teenagers will meet with community leaders to identify projects that will help people.

Following this they will spend a week on projects.
