Teenager killed after being thrown from BMW on busy South Yorkshire motorway

A teenage boy was killed in a horror crash on the M18 in South Yorkshire on Saturday evening.

The 17-year-old boy was travelling in a black BMW along the M18 towards Doncaster from junction one when it left the carriageway and ended up on its roof.

The Oldham teenager, who is believed to have been a passenger, was throw from the car and was then hit by a blue Citroen Picasso travelling in the same direction.

He was pronounced dead at the scene while two other men travelling in the car, aged 18 and 19, suffered minor injuries.

The crash happened at around 7.30 pm on Saturday, May 15.

The teenager's family have been informed and South Yorkshire Police said they are being supported by specialist officers "during this incredibly difficult time".

Officers are looking to hear from anyone who saw the BMW prior to the crash and any witnesses are urged to call 101 quoting incident number 989 of May 13.
