Named as Woman of the Year in 2008 for her own contribution to art and society, Ghislaine, a painter of powerful and expressive means dealing with the human condition, is best known for her ground-breaking exhibition concerning pregnancy and birth, the first of its kind at Manchester City Art Gallery which attracted much critical acclaim.

Her lecture discussed the growth and acceptance of women artists from the turn of the 20C in a world for so long dominated by men.
