LABOUR has increased its majority on Doncaster Council after one of the borough’s independents joined the party.
Coun Deborah Hutchinson was originally elected to her Great North Road ward as an independent.
Her move increases the party’s presence on the council to 44 of 63 seats.
Elected mayor Peter Davies is from the English Democrat party.
Labour group leader, Sandra Holland, said: “Debbie will be an asset to the party as an experienced councillor, and will make a significant contribution to the benefit of the people of Doncaster.”
Coun Hutchinson said: “Three Labour councillors can only make things better and I will work with my new colleagues to improve people’s lives.”
