SUNDAY LEAGUE FOOTY: The Railway steam into last eight of KO Cup

Championship leaders The Railway kept on track in the Doncaster Sunday Alliance League's Ernie Prince Memorial KO Cup.

They shunted high-flying Premier Division Tut 'n' Shive into the sidings following their 4-1 away win.

Another Championship side to beat top flight opposition was mid-table Leopard who beat second-bottom FC Rossington Welfare 4-2 on the back of goals by Matt Finders, Rich Jones, Jason Jones and Sam Corner.

Second-placed Scawthorpe Athletic (‘Didier’ Daffin 2, Mick Evans) beat third-placed Rakkam (Andy McCreadie 2) by the odd goal in five in their all-Championship clash.

Premier Division leaders Ryecroft Rovers also booked their place in the last eight with a 4-2 win at Championship side Bessacarr.

Defending Premier Division champions Canal Tavern, another side who remain on course for the double, romped to a surprisingly emphatic 8-1 win over top-four rivals Dunscroft.

Kirk Frost led the way with a hat trick and Darren Fell weighed in with a brace.

Danny Bulman, Neil Shephard and Lewis Andrew also netted.

Lowly FC Brookside (Adam Rastrick 2, Stephen Phillips, own goal) produced one of the shocks of the day when beating league leaders Real Bridge (Mark Cooper, Matthew Mears) 4-2 in an all-Division One clash.

Second Division Durban are the lowest-placed team through to the quarter-finals following their 2-1 win over Championship strugglers Team 23 – Josh Bowkett and Luke Hodder sharing the goals.

Carcroft Village, for whom Shaun Thompson, Russ Damms and Arron Batho (2) scored, completed the quarter-final line-up with a 5-3 win over The Salutation, whose consolation goals were shared by Sam Waugh, Sam Langley and Zac Bolston.

Bottom club Pit Club Miners (Davis, Bowman) built on their first Premier Division win of the season last week, after 14 successive defeats, when drawing 2-2 with FC Glasshouse (Lucas Belnavis) in one of only three top-flight league games.

James Naylor bagged a brace as Club Athletico Regent moved joint-third after beating Carpenters Arms 4-3. James Batchelor and Craig Fletcher completed the scoring.

Wheatley Hotel moved level with Stainforth following their 3-2 win over the visitors whose consolation goals were shared by Ant Ross and Leigh Emmerson.

Four-goal Robert Lee was the star as Rosehill Press climbed up to fifth in the Championship thanks to a 7-2 win at Wheatsheaf (Doncaster). Arran Jakobson hit a double for the winners with Ryan Ambler also finding the net. Daniel McNeil claimed both Wheatsheaf goals.

Balby Athletic claimed their eighth win of the season, beating Foresters 5-1 courtesy of goals by Jordan Lewis 2, Kieron Feruson, Tim Miles and Kyle Burton.

Three Horsehoes remain ten points adrift at the foot of the table following their 2-1 defeat at Finningley Athletic.

Goals by Lee Dixon, Daniel Smith and Mark Preston helped Willaspoons served up a 3-0 win at Palfreys Lodge.

Second-placed Rossington Styrrup, for whom Karl Blanshard and Lee Pearson were on target, moved to within two points of top spot in Division One as a result of their 4-2 win over FC Cumberland.

Wheatley Club remain four points clear in third thanks to a 4-3 win over Armthorpe Village. Adam Cahill hit a double for the winners with Ryan Fletcher and Zack King also getting in on the act. Steven Wagstaff 2, and Guy Stockwell replied the visitors.

Dan Bewley notched the Athletico Fairway consolation in their 5-1 defeat at AFC Schoolboy.

A Jonathan Crofts’ brace failed to save FC Ivanhoe from a 4-2 home defeat by Sporting Wadworth.

Fellow strugglers White Hart (Askern) and Bentley West End S&S battled out a 1-1 draw.

Stag Inn Rovers moved to within seven points of long-time Division Two leaders Windmill, whose game at Balby Rovers was called off, when beating third-placed Woodfield 3-1 on the back of goals by Austin John, Declan Sullivan and Liam Winfield.

Eden Arms (Luke Pitchfork, Scott Dixon and Mike Dixon) drew 3-3 with New Cantley. Goals by Joe Lindsey and Kyle Palmer helped Pit Club beat AFC Balby 3-2.

FC Wheatley Hills posted a 6-3 win at Windmill Wanderers.
