She said first up were the athletes taking part in the Summer series. A total of 13 athletes toed the line, with quite a few new participants tackling their first aquathlon.

She added: 'More importantly, were all the smiles and faces full of pride in their achievement, when they returned to transition after the event. Will Sunday's race have affected the leaderboard for the series? Stay tuned to find out as the points are calculated.' Next up were the club's graduates. Despite some nervous faces pre race, they all took to the water and implemented the "place, press, push" mantra and whooshed up and down the lanes.

Jacqui further added: 'Seeing the smile on their faces as they got out of the pool, reaffirmed to me, why I coach. This is an enormous achievement for them as the swimmers could not put their head in the water a matter of five weeks ago

'Well done everyone. See you all in October for the first of our Autumn/Winter series.'
