Success for police charity applications

Six Doncaster charity and sport groups are to benefit from grants handed out by South Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Shaun Wright.

The Commissioner has allocated a total of £149,723.94 across 27 South Yorkshire charities and projects which he believes will help him achieve his policing priorities.

Local organisations receiving grants are: Doncaster CVS, which works to ensure local community and voluntary sector groups and organisations get the support they need.

The Samaritans, which provides emotional support for those who are experiencing feelings of emotional distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.

Platform 51 – Doncaster Women’s Centre - a lively multi-cultural community centre in Cleveland Street which offers a range of services for girls and women.

Kids’ Fitness Zone, which offers activities for children and young people aged 5 to 16.

Wheatley Amateur Boxing Club, which aims to provide positive activities for the youth and young adults.

Balmoral Road Neighbourhood Watch, a group aiming to make areas safe, friendly and pleasant places to live.

Groups were invited to apply for grants of up to £10,000.
