Storm Ciara: Grand Central joins LNER in cancelling services this weekend over weather fears

Rail operator Grand Central will not be running any services on Sunday due to severe weather warnings in place because of Storm Ciara.

Customers with tickets to travel with Grand Central this weekend are advised to travel on either Saturday 8 February or Monday 10 February and their ticket for Sunday 9 February will still be valid on Grand Central services.

There will be no ticket acceptance available with other train operators.

Passengers who do not wish to travel can claim a full refund from their point of purchase.

Grand Central is advising passengers to visit www.grandcentralrail.com, or follow the train company on Twitter @GC_Rail or Facebook.

Earlier, fellow rail operator LNER announced that it would be running a reduced service on Sunday and advised passengers not to travel as Storm Ciara prepares to batter the country.

Winds of up to 80mph are forecast and widespread disruption is predicted.
