Star Wars fever set to invade Doncaster this weekend

May the force be with you at a Doncaster shopping centre this weekend!

Star Wars characters are coming to Lakeside Village this Sunday.

Stormtroopers, Ewoks and Jedi Knights will greet shoppers and encourage them to feel the force at Lakeside Village on Sunday.

The Star Wars characters will be landing from 11am until 3.30pm and will be available for photographs with fans.

The eagerly awaited new movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released worldwide this week to rave reviews and lucky youngsters will be able to take part in a special Jedi Knight School at Lakeside Village.

Cheryl Sadler, centre manager, Lakeside Village, said: “The build up to the new Star Wars movie has been tremendous and we are very excited to be giving our shoppers a chance to experience some of the magic of Star Wars at the centre this weekend.

“Sunday will see a range of activities taking place including appearances from several Star Wars favourites and our special Jedi Knight school teaching under 14s , how to use a lightsaber and train to be a Jedi Knight. Father Christmas will also in his grotto where customers can see him for free and receive a chocolate treat.

“There will also be free mulled wine and chestnuts on offer throughout the day just to add to the Christmas spirit.”

The Jedi Knight School can be booked at the centre on the day. It is aimed at under 14s and bookings will be made on a first come first served basis. There is a maximum of ten trainee Jedi Knights per class. The sessions will take place 11am – 11.30am, 12pm – 12.30pm, 1pm – 1.30pm, 2pm – 2.30pm, 3pm -3.30pm.

All participants be given a keepsake photo and certificate.

“We look forward to seeing Star Wars fans at the centre on Sunday and hope that our young shoppers enjoy the Jedi training,” added Cheryl.
