MORE days of strike action by workers for bus operator Stagecoach Yorkshire are set to take place this week.
Industrial action over workers’ pay levels is planned for December 2 and 3, but the company insists there will be “minimal disruption” to users.
Over 100 replacement staff will be drafted in to allow the majority of bus services to run between 7am and 6pm, with school services remaining unaffected on December 2.
Two days of strike action took place earlier this month, when management said that passenger levels had remained “near normal levels”.
Strikers, however, stay resolute and have reported strong public support.
Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire said: “We have negotiated with the trade union for six months and we have made several pay offers. Indeed one of the offers was recommended for acceptance by Unite.
“Our efforts are now focused on a robust contingency timetable”.
A special £1 flat single fare for adults will once again apply on strike days. Megarider tickets, child and pensioners’ free passes will be accepted as normal.
All Stagecoach buses in Sheffield and Chesterfield, including route 265 to Barnsley, and all Stagecoach East Midlands services in south Rotherham and Doncaster will run as normal.
