Splashing out to teach folk to swim

People of all ages across Doncaster are being invited to join a new plan to get the town swimming.

Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust has launched its Splash Academy in a bid to see more people learn to swim.

Michael Hart, Interim Chief Executive of the Trust, said: “Splash Academy is our first trust-wide initiative including all our venues with a pool.

“Learning to swim is a fun and important thing to do, no matter what age you are.

“We welcome learners from six months old to adult. Our instructors all follow the Amateur Swimming Association national plan for teaching swimming.”

The lessons are running now at Askern, Armthorpe, Adwick, Dearne Valley Leisure Centre, Edlington, Rossington, St James, The Dome and Thorne.

They run continually in 10 week blocks - apart from at the Dome which runs term-time lessons starting on Monday, September 5.
