Children at the Skools Out holiday club in Epworth had double fun with a day of face painting and a visit from a local animal expert with a variety of reptiles.

The reptiles included a tarantula spider, rare African hedgehog and a boa constrictor snake which the children were able to look at and play with carefully, as well as learn about their appetites.

The activity day came as part of a range of special events at Skools Out this holiday which includes a visit from top footballers from Scunthorpe United, bouncy castles, Epworth’s own Olympic games and a chocolate party.

The club, which runs from Epworth’s Children’s Centre, has proved a great hit and is part of the full range of child care they provide throughout the school term and the holidays including pre-school age and after school club.

Skools Out was set up by local experienced childminders Linda Wood and Alex Heighington to meet the needs of parents in the Isle. Commenting on the reptile visit Linda Wood said: “The children loved the animals. They were a little nervous at first but then had great fun feeding them and gently stroking and playing with them. The snake was a great favourite – so much so they all wanted to keep it!”
