A ward sister at the hospital has asked for the boxes to be created, for patients getting married at short notice.

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust’s charity, the Health Tree Foundation, is calling on the public to make a donation.

The wedding boxes will contain bunting, artificial flowers, balloons, confetti, champagne flutes, a CD player, table cloths, a cake stand and wedding cards.

A donation of £2 would pay for confetti; £15 would pay for champagne flutes for the happy couple and £60 would pay for beautiful silk artificial flowers.

The Health Tree Foundation is hoping to raise enough money to buy supplies for a wedding box at Scunthorpe General Hospital and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.

Sister Julieann Woollas, who works on ward 18 at Scunthorpe hospital, said: “As the ceremonies are sometimes quite spontaneous there is not always time to get all the supplies needed to create the right environment. It’s such a special occasion for a bride and groom.” To donate go to www.justgiving.com/hospitalwedding or text WEDD 49 with the amount you would like to donate to 70070.
