DEARNE residents can read about Barnsley Council’s future plans for Adult Social Care in a newly published report.
The report, named ‘Care and Support for Adults’ shows how the Adult Social Care Services are meeting the needs of people across the borough, with the resources that are available.
Despite the challenging financial environment there are some improvements to services, said a council spokeswoman. And plans for the future include ‘providing more people with direct payments, preventing the need for people to enter care homes by increasing help after a stay in hospital, and improving the quality of all care services’.
The Coalition Government abolished the previous reliance on inspections to determine how well the service is doing. It has been replaced by the Local Account, which makes the council more directly accountable to residents for its performance.
