Funded through the work of Sheffield-based company The Green Company (Recycling) Ltd, the grant from Salvaire will support Sova in the work they do in Sheffield.

The Green Company is an organisation rooted in social enterprise values that support education and employment opportunities for those in need. In partnership with Sheffield City Council and Veolia, The Green Company is responsible for providing waste recycling services across the 5 Household Waste Recycling Centres of Sheffield.

The Green Company is owned by grant-giving charity Salvaire and all profits made are gifted to the charity in order to fund grants to charities, particularly those working in and around Sheffield.

This generous grant is supporting Sova’s work in Sheffield where they deliver a range of services to children and young people. Programme Manager, Kelly Buswell who oversees all of Sova’s strengthening communities programmes in the North of England said “This grant will be instrumental in enabling Sova to increase our reach both geographically and in terms of the number of children, young people and families we work with and support.”

In March, Kelly met with members of staff from The Green Company to thank them personally for their support. After a fascinating tour of the recycling sites, Kelly invited the team to join her at one of Sova’s services in Sheffield where they took part in arts and crafts and a boxercise class with young people at their drop-in centre.

Martine Laffan-Butler, Executive Chair of The Green Company, said “Everything we do as an organisation is aimed at having a social impact locally. We are very proud to have played a part in supporting young people of Sheffield in this way. Staff who visited Sova’s fantastic project were overwhelmed by the impact of the service on the young people and were thrilled to be part of making it happen. They came back with lots of ideas about how they could support the project in more practical ways and further visits are already scheduled in.”
