Residents in South Yorkshire have been warned about a scam which threatens to harm people if they don't pay up.

South Yorkshire police say they have had several reports over the last week about the scam and are urging people to be cyber aware.

The email, which asks the recipient to transfer a sum of money in return for their safety, poses no threat and should be deleted.

A proposal is set with two options, one, to transfer the money and your life will be spared, or two, if the money is not sent then your 'judgement day' will come.

Action Fraud UK are asking people who have received the email and paid to report it to police on 101.
