South Yorkshire Police to mark-up property

Police are offering residents in the Tupton area the opportunity to pick up some crime prevention advice and have their property security marked.

Residents are being encouraged to come along and bring their valuables to a number of events and have them security marked for free by the Wingerworth and Rural Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Portable electrical equipment, tools and other items will be marked by officers, meaning that if they are ever stolen and recovered they can be easily identified and returned.

There will also be a chance to make an appointment with the team if you have any items at home which would be too big or bulky to bring along on the day.

PCSO Hannah Disney of the Wingerworth and Rutal Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The idea behind having property marked is that if it is ever stolen and then recovered, it can be identified and returned to the rightful owner as soon possible. For that reason it also makes it much less attractive to thieves, which can only be a good thing.”

The events will take place on:

Saturday, July 2: 10am-12pm, at Tupton Village Hall, Green Lane

Sunday, July 3: 10am-12pm, at Ward Street allotments, Tupton
