South Yorkshire League round-up: Sprotbrough land first top flight win

Jordan Lowe was in excellent form with the bat for Tickhill in their win over Rockingham.

Jonathan Scaife starred with bat and ball for the newly-promoted visitors.

A good partnership of 71 for the eighth wicket between Scaife (42) and Ben Lyons (37) helped Sprotbrough post 161 all out.

Rob Barlow (54) guided Wath to 102-3 but when he became the fourth wicket to fall the innings began to crumble.

The home side’s collapse included two run outs and the final wicket fell in the final over with their total on 158.

Scaife, a former Wath player, made the difference and recorded figures of 5-48.

Tickhill returned to winning ways with a 138-run victory at home to Rockingham which saw them go second in the table.

After losing their first three batsmen with only 30 runs between them, skipper Jordan Lowe and Ashley Fiddler transformed the innings with a dynamic stand of 137.

Lowe was at his aggressive best, smashing 15 fours and four sixes in racing to 97 in just 82 balls, while Fiddler made 60 as the hosts posted a sizeable total of 253-8.

In reply Rockingham were not up to the task.

Skipper Andy Baker top scored with 47 out of a total of 115 all out.

Callum Stuart continued his good start to the season by claiming 4-32 and Alex Rowland chipped in with 3-9.

Conisbrough won a high scoring clash with Rotherham Town by 31 runs.

Opener Jack Whittaker led the way for Conisbrough until he was run out for 89.

Arosh Jonoda was ferocious as he helped himself to nine sixes and four fours in racing to 92 from 49 balls.

Neil Spruce joined in the fun with a quickfire 45 from only 27 deliveries as Conisbrough amassed a superb total of 320-8.

Rotherham, however, were up for the chase.

The big hitting continued with Aitizaz Khan smashing his way to 90, including ten fours and four sixes.

Byron Grant opened with 48 and Irfan Mirza supported with 43.

Rotherham’s innings closed at 289-9, close enough to Conisbrough’s total to earn them two bonus points.

Imran Zafar produced the bowling performance of note, claiming impressive figures of 5-58.
