A team that specialises in the care and surgical treatment of foot and ankle problems has scooped Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals’ NHS Foundation Trust Star Team Award.
The podiatry surgery team, based at Cantley Health Centre in Doncaster, won the trust’s monthly staff award, receiving the commendation for their determination and strong commitment to treating patients. The team was praised for improving their service and routinely introducing new, innovative ways of working.
This commitment has resulted in shorter referral times and a new ‘one stop’ ultrasound diagnostic and treatment service, allowing patients the opportunity to receive everything they need in one appointment and reducing repeat visits.
The team was nominated by Suzanne Bolam, head of therapies, who said: “The team are a credit to the trust. They are a perfect example of how working together and a commitment to constant improvement can produce excellent results for our patients. I am so pleased that they have received this recognition for their hard work.”
The podiatry surgery team were presented with their award by Rick Dickinson, deputy director of quality and governance at the trust, who said: “It’s fantastic to see such commitment to innovation and improvement. “Through redesigning their work patterns, patient appointments and theatre times the team have managed to offer a better quality service to patients.”
