Song in aid of scanner is released

PEOPLE who helped produced a charity single for Scan for Life could soon be chart-toppers after their song was officially released this week.

A cover version of Lou Reed’s Perfect Day has been put together by residents, businesses and people from the borough who came together to form the ‘Doncaster Sings’ group.

Proceeds will go to our appeal run in conjunction with Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust to buy a state-of-the-art scanner worth £600,000.

The single is now available for download through music website iTunes for just 79p.

Around 200 people also helped boost the appeal’s coffers with a Valentine’s Day dinner on Saturday at Doncaster Racecourse.

A group of volunteers called Perfect Angels, who helped with the charity single, organised the event which included an auction, raffle and live band. DVDs of the single were also sold on the evening.

Organisers said the cash total was in the thousands and that funds were still coming in.
