Smoke warning to drivers as fire chiefs issue update on huge Doncaster blaze
Drivers and householders in Doncaster have been told to keep windows closed this morning following a huge blaze which has raged for more than nine hours.
Crews have spent the night tackling a huge inferno which has ripped through a recycling plant in the Carr Hill area.
Now fire chiefs have issued an update – and have warned residents and motorists to keep windows shut.
A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed fire engines are still at the incident this morning and tweeted: “We are still on scene in Balby.
“There is still smoke in the area. Officers are asking residents to keep windows and doors closed if this is affecting you.
“Motorists travelling affected by the smoke are advised to close windows and air vents and turn off air con.”
