Group chairperson Alison England said: “Our annual family fun day is always very well supported by the local community. The staff and committee have worked extremely hard to prepare the event and make sure its better and better each year.

“Local businesses and parents/carers also supported the event with donations for raffle prizes, and we had help from the newsagents to buy supplies, and the Old School Inn were the hosts who also donated a generous prize.

“On the day, the weather wasn’t as good as usual, but this didn’t put people off attending and we were overwhelmed to see so many people out with their wellies and umbrellas supporting us.

“Children enjoyed stalls such as hook a duck, lucky dip and their own children’s tombola whilst the adults enjoyed the ever popular bottle dip, and raffle. We had bouncy castles from The House of Bounce (funded by Asbestos Survey and Management), and face painting by Creations by Joanne (Joanne Kirk-Knighton).

“The afternoon was a fantastic success and we managed to raise a record amount of over £1,400 for pre-school funds. The pre-school is run as a charity by a committee of parents and the local community are really supportive for which we are extremely grateful.

The money raised will be put towards improving our outdoor area, and we will ask our parents and carers for their suggestions on what they believe is most important to spend the money on for the children who attend the pre-school.”

She added: “We would like to thank everyone who has supported us this year, and in the past, and we look forward to another successful afternoon next summer.”
