Wroot Feast 2015 began with a parade of floats led by cadets from 1053 DF Squadron and Miss Wroot Lauren Wolstenholme.

Popular attractions included the trade stalls, a circus workshop provided by Party Workshops, The Cycle Barn from Misterton - which had all the dads busy with an extremely competitive sprint race on a road bike, and TIA Rescue who recently moved to Wroot, bringing along two miniature donkeys to help raise awareness of the work they do and raise money for bespoke facilities for the greyhounds and shire horses they take care of.

There was a great turnout of classic cars and bikes and The Isle of Axholme Model Flying Club had an excellent display of planes and brought along a flight simulator.

Organiser Neil Sanderson said: “We had a truly wonderful fun-filled day this year at Wroot Feast. The attendance far exceeded any of our expectations. There were plenty of new visitors who haven’t even heard of Wroot before, thanks to our creative social media advertising campaign.

“I simply could not believe the crowds we had. It just goes to show that all the hard work this year’s Wroot Feast committee put in really paid off. We have had so much positive feedback. It has been a pleasure to put this growing family fun day on.

“One of the best things people have said to me are ‘It has put the other so called bigger events to shame, with down to earth people and simple entertainment. A highly enjoyable day was had’.

“Wroot Feast does not have a big name sponsor, so to put this on without the backing that other local events have shows all the hard work that we as a committee have put into this. We are considering the possibility of gaining sponsorship for future, so if any local businesses are interested then please contact [email protected]

“So many people have been telling us this years Wroot Feast has been the best one in a long time, and with so many people wanting to come back next year.”
