Sixteen year old girl assaulted by two men in park

A 16-year-old girl was assaulted and fell to the floor in an attempted robbery this week.

The incident happened at around 11.20am on Wednesday, March 2, close to the PODS. in Scunthorpe’s Central Park.

The victim was approached from behind by two men and fell to the floor. As she stood up, the men are said to have assaulted her – causing minor facial injuries – before attempting to steal her handbag.

The men then ran off towards Kingsway.

The first suspect is said to be white, with a local accent, blue eyes and large hands. He wore a dark coloured scarf over his face, a dark jacket and tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers.

The second man also had a local accent and was wearing a dark coloured jacket, black gloves and a scarf over his face.

Chief Inspector Jenny Bristow said: “Incidents of this incident are thankfully rare but are very distressing for victims.

“I would urge anyone who saw two men in this area at the time to call 101 and give us as much detail as possible.”
