Showings for Doncaster autism cinema-goers

Autism friendly screenings will be launched on Sunday at Doncaster’s Vue cinema.

This summer, as part of Vue’s autism friendly initiative, sensory-friendly screenings will be taking place monthly at Vue Doncaster.

The new season will allow cinema-goers, who would benefit from the subtle alterations made to the cinema experience, to attend screenings with friends and family in an inclusive surrounding.

Vue Cinemas will launch its autism friendly screenings on Sunday with screenings happening on the last Sunday of each month from then on.

These screenings will be available at Vue cinemas nationwide.

The Autism Friendly Film showings will include adjustments such as eliminating adverts, lighting left on low and sound turned down to accommodate film goers.

Debbie Ryde, general manager at Vue Doncaster, said: “At Vue Cinemas we are dedicated to providing all our customers with the best cinematic experience possible.

“We are delighted to be bringing autism friendly screenings to our customers as it will mean those who were previously unable to attend can now witness films on the big screen, receiving the ultimate viewing experience specifically tailored to their needs.”
