A-Level pupils studying Art and Design Technology at High Storrs School have captured their fathers’ likenesses in portraits that currently grace the new dining room.

The impressive art works include a six foot piece by Ella Dayvison of her father, BBC Radio Sheffield broadcaster, Everard Davy.

The display was completed in time for Fathers’ Day, and is part of a diverse range of drawings, paintings, furniture and other works that will be on show during an upcoming open evening.

A school spokeswoman said: “Our students produce an exceptionally high standard of work and are brave in the use of resources and media, both technical and experimental.

“Consequently, we have many students going on to study the arts at foundation and degree level.”

The school invites people to their open evening at High Storrs on Thursday, June 9, from 6pm to 8pm. On Friday afternoon there will be escorted tours of the work on show between 1pm and 2.45pm. People can book in advance by calling 0114 267 0000.

High Storrs school also has an upcoming drama production, and will perform Shakespeare’s Macbeth on stage from July 11 to 13. Tickets are disappearing fast for the evening shows and one matinee performance.

The cast were delighted to welcome Daniel Evans, Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres, in to school this month, to assist in the direction of some scenes at their rehearsals.

High Storrs was designated a specialist school in Performing Arts in 2002 in recognition of hard work by all partners in the learning process over a number of years.

Its second specialism, after receiving High Performing Status, is in Maths and Computing.
