Sheffield Ingle clan sign up '˜fat nobody from Doncaster!'

David Allen - who dubs himself '˜a fat nobody from Doncaster' - is hoping to improve his chances of making an impression on the British heavyweight scene with the help of the Ingle clan in Sheffield.

Allen, who has nine wins and a draw, has met with Dom Ingle, Kell Brook’s trainer, and is hoping to escalate his chances of securing a big fight.

The Conisbrough scrapper was last out in March on the Brook undercard in a messy fight with half-fit American Jason Gavern.

But he hopes to cement another slot on Brook’s bill, when the IBF world champion takes on Jessie Vargas at Bramall Lane in late August.

“I have seen Dominic Ingle. I am hoping for a new team around me, possibly.”

“Stefy Bull still manages me, he’s a good friend of mine, everything is going great but I feel I need a change of scenery, a change of input in terms of my training, so things are looking up” he said.

Allen, aged 24, says his dream fight would be against Brixton’s Dillian Whyte, who was stopped by Anthony Joshua in December.

But there was a chance he could face Norwich power house Sam Sexton, too.

White needs to push on, after admitting to IFL TV interviewer Tyan Booth that he’d only earned £12,000 in 10 fights, a career which began at Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield, in 2012.

Booth said the money was “terrible” and warned him against “stacking shelves in Asda” like Herol Graham had.

The heavyweight added he’d sparred for free with world champ Anthony Joshua.

He said that it was more about getting a bigger profile than it was money, and warned fighters like Rotherham’s Kash Ali were not getting their share of the limelight.
