Members of Brancing Out Dancing hosted a sponsored dance in Wharncliffe Side Community Centre last month.

The event was to raise much needed funds for the hall towards the restoration of the toilets and other essential repairs.

The local community all got involved and didn’t disappoint with members of the Rainbows, Brownies, adult dance class - Dance Fit Diva, along with friends and family all taking part.

A spokesman said: “It was fun filled and very energetic but everyone left with a smile on their faces.”

Committee member, Christine Buckley, had an even bigger smile on her face when the collected sponsor money from Branching Out was handed over, the grand total was £878.81.

A prize was given to the pupil that had collected the most individually and that was Emily Hattersley with £110.

The Rainbows and Brownies also raised sponsorship for the event which is still currently being collected in.

The spokesman added: “Branching Out Dancing and our extended ‘family’ raised an amazing amount, we were overwhelmed collecting the sponsor money in.

“The snow had fallen and we worried no one would come, we opened the door to a fantastic turn out. We were thrilled.

“The community centre are in desperate need of funds, we came up with the idea and put it out there to the locals to see if they would support our cause.

“Most people in the area have used the hall at some point, it’s in everyone’s best interest to keep it running.

The event was hailed an overwhelming success.
