A war medal of ‘huge sentimental value’ has been stolen from a house in Doncaster.

Sometime between 11am and 4.15pm on Wednesday, March 23, a house in Lister Avenue, Balby was broken into.

An intruder smashed a window at the back door to get in.

Items of jewellery, including a silver chain and a silver engagement ring in the shape of a flower were stolen.

A World War One medal, which belonged to the heartbroken victim’s father was also taken from the house during the raid.

The medal is a Flying Corps victory medal and has a blue and yellow ribbon.

The medals were given to military and civilian personnel who served in the war.

The medal has a service number engraved along the edge, which is 11720.

Police say the items that were stolen are of huge sentimental value to the victim and they are hoping to have them returned.

Anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around the time of the incident is asked to contact South Yorkshrie Police.
