Senior staff into new roles at hospital trust

Senior staff have stepped into new roles at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

The former chief nurse Dr Karen Dunderdale has been appointed to the full-time post of deputy chief executive following an internal recruitment process.

Previously the deputy chief executive role was a part-time job carried out by an executive staff member on a two-year rotation.

The Trust Board created this full-time position to ensure sufficient leadership capacity is maintained while the chief executive Karen Jackson is engaged with the Healthy Lives, Healthy Futures programme (HLHF) on a part-time basis.

Mr Lawrence Roberts, medical director at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

Mrs Jackson is the lead accountable officer for the HLHF review of healthcare services in North and North East Lincolnshire.

Dr Dunderdale said: “I am delighted to have secured the permanent role of deputy chief executive. I believe my time as chief nurse has given me a wealth of experience and knowledge to fulfil this position to the best of my ability.

“I began my nurse training at the Trust and have worked as a registered nurse on the wards which gives me a clear understanding of the hard work and dedication of our frontline staff. I am passionate about striving for the best for our patients and I look forward to working with colleagues in this new capacity.”

The Trust’s deputy chief nurse Tara Filby has stepped up as acting chief nurse. A full recruitment process for the chief nurse position will take place.

In addition Mr Lawrence Roberts, who has been acting up as Trust medical director since March, has now been appointed to the post on a permanent basis.

Mr Roberts has held various posts at the Trust, including consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, associate medical director and deputy medical director.

He said: “I am looking forward to developing a strong clinical leadership across the Trust, forging a close working relationship between clinicians and management, working with staff to ensure we are delivering high quality, safe services for our patients.”
