A VOLUNTEERING project in Rotherham has marked its first year anniversary with a celebration night.
The good work done by volunteers of the Golden Seven community involvement project was highlighted at the event, held at the Springwell Gardens Community Centre earlier this month.
Through the scheme, members of TARA groups work together on various projects to encourage community spirit between different minority groups, young people and families.
During the celebration night, volunteers told of their efforts through one scheme to use food from different cultures to bring people together.
In addition, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Development, Equality and Young People, Councillor Mahroof Hussain, told of projects coming up in the next year.
He said: “This is truly a ‘One Town, One Community’ project and volunteers are the back bone of our communities. I salute the dedication, motivation and commitment of the panel members.”
