Father Christmas brought some early festive cheer to the Dearne when he visited a community craft fair.

Scores of people from across the region dropped into the Ivanhoe Centre in Gardens Lane, Conisbrough, on Saturday to have a browse around dozens of stalls, selling a wide range of quirky handmade goods.

People hunted for a bargain and sifted through items including homemade cards, dolls and toys.

Meanwhile, as the adults filled up their Christmas stockings, youngsters were invited to meet Father Christmas in his grotto and to give him their wish list.

Sheila Treen, administration assistant at the centre, said: “People were displaying beautifully crafted items on the stalls.

“I’m not quite sure on the attendance but there was quite a steady flow of people coming all morning.

“The cafe bar was open selling refreshments all morning too with bacon and sausage sandwiches on the menu.

“Everyone enjoyed it and a good time was had by all. The children who visited loved seeing Father Christmas.”

A range of fun activities are held at the centre every week, including tea dance, craft activities and bingo.
