Sandall Beat 10k: Who won what?

Danum Harrier Nathan Murray raced to victory in the men's under-20 category in Doncaster Athletic Club's annual Sandall Beat 10k Trail Race last Wednesday.

Murray, who clocked a time of 41 minutes 48 seconds, finished 19th in the race which started and finished at Doncaster Rugby Club’s Castle Park complex.

The race, which had nearly 300 finishers, was won by Penistone’s James Thompson in a time of 35 minutes 32 seconds to pocket the £100 prize.

Ackworth’s Simon Newton (36.34) finished second with York’s Helen Cross (37.39) claiming third spot – the highest-ever placing by a woman in the event.

Zantha Wray (Hallamshire), second in the women’s race in a time of 38.43, also finished in the top six. Rotherham’s Fiona Davies (39.48) was third in the women’s race and 11th overall.

Danum’s Jose Dias, seventh overall in 39.07, won the men’s vet-45 race with clubmate Chris Ramsey (39.27) claiming second spot.

Doncaster’s Paul Bond (45.08) took the honours in the men’s vet-55 race, clubmate Malcolm Leggett (45.38) bagging second spot.

Pete Wade (Doncaster), 61st overall in a time of 47.46, was second in the men’s vet-60 race.

Unattached Doncaster runner John Sculthorpe (52.35) was runner-up in the men’s vet-65 race.

Doncaster’s Anthony O’Connor won the men’s vet-70 race.

Doncaster’s Shaz Wood was second in the women’s vet-35 race in 46.27. Danum’s Eleanor Bull (48.49) won the vet-45 race.

Julie Cull (Doncaster) finished second in the vet-60 race.
