Rural crime in the Isle

HUMBERSIDE Police are looking into incidents of trespassers encroaching on Isle land to poach deer and hunt hares with dogs.

Evidence of these illegal activities include dead carcasses, tyre tracks and reports of off road vehicles causing damage to crops and fencing.

Officers believe offenders are travelling great distances to the Isle to carry out these crimes. Several males have recently been reported for hunting with dogs but to secure a successful court prosecution, this requires strong evidence of the offence actually being committed

Police are encouraging Isle farmers, landowners and land users to consider joining Country Watch which actively monitors rural areas.
