Influential consumer group Which? magazine’s members have given the airport, celebrating its tenth anniversary, the accolade.
The Yorkshire airport scores highly on queues at security and seating and baggage reclaim and scored 84 percent overall, taking the second place spot in the survey coming in just behind London Southend who scored just two percent higher.
The ‘Best and Worst UK Airports’ carried out by Which? assessed airports on areas that matter the most to consumers, including pick-up and drop-off, seating provision, queues at security, passport control and baggage reclaim.
The final standings were revealed after 11,266 Which? members shared their experiences of the UK’s airports with the group’s magazine.
Doncaster Sheffield Airport achieved five-star ratings in four key categories, specifically around queues, space around security, seating provision and distance to boarding gates.
It was the highest placed in the north of England in the rankings of 15 small gateway terminals followed by London City Airport.
