A section of the A19 at Bentley will be affected by work on Saturday nights and Sundays while it is resurfaced and sections of the same road, through Askern, are due to be affected by work to connect utilities to current building sites.

The work in Bentley will see are a number of side road closures, although the main A19 will remain open throughout, but will be subject to temporary traffic lights, so delays should be expected as the busier times of the day. Signs will be put up on all main routes in advance of the works to encourage drivers to use other routes .

There will also be temporary parking restrictions on the main A19 route through Bentley.

The closures and temporary lights will be in place on November 19 and 26 and December 3, and the areas affected will be Arksey Lane, Finkle Street, and Close Cooke Street.

Ward Coun Charlie Hogarth said he thought the work and delays would be worth it for the improved road surface in the long term.

The A19 through Askern is expected to be affect this week by work to connect utilities, and local councillors believe it may affect traffic flow.

It is expected to mean delays from Wednesday October 4 until Tuesday next week (October 10), and then again between October 18 and 25.

Mayor of Askern Francis Jackson said: "If you are contemplating coming up the A19 through Askern I would suggest an alternative route via Sutton, Campsall and Norton then back on to the A19 whilst all this work is being carried out. However, there is no guarantee that the utilities installers will stick to these dates."
