Road improvements on the way as new funds released

Extra funding of £646,000 from the Government tops up a million pounds added to North Lincolnshire Council’s budget for the work throughout the Isle of Axholme.

Roads to benefit include: the C213 from Owston Ferry (Church Walk) to Haxey (Low Hall Rd), the A18 Crowle (Pilfrey Bridge) to Crowle Gyratory, the B1396 Park Drain from the County Boundary to Allenbank at Wroot/Haxey, the full length of High Street, Wroot, Firth Lane, Wroot, Woodside, Wroot, and Epworth roads Rookery Croft, Vinegarth, St Andrew’s Way, Castle Drive, Wesley Close, Newlands Lane, and Rectory Street.

Isle MP Andrew Percy said: “There is a long way to go with road and path improvements across our area. However we are making a good start and I will continue to work with the council to achieve more money and improvements for the Isle.”

Coun Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We have worked really hard with MP Andrew Percy to secure extra money for our area. These schemes are in addition to the routine programme for roads and pavements and we hope to announce further works in the next few weeks.”

Mr Percy is urging the Council to also bid for new Government funding for pothole repairs from the £168 million Pothole Fund, announced in the 2014 Budget.
