A retired Doncaster journalist has been found dead at his home.

Doncaster Coroner Nicola Mundy has ordered an autopsy on the body of Robert Nesbitt, who was discovered at the weekend by a cleaner at his bungalow in Silver Jubilee Court, Wheatley Hills.

Mr Nesbitt, who was better known as Bert, was 73 and a widower.

He originated from Northern Ireland and came to South Yorkshire in the mid-1970s when he joined the Doncaster Evening Post as a reporter. Mr Nesbitt later became the paper’s chief reporter and when it folded in 1983 he took up freelance journalism, reporting Doncaster Crown Court cases.
