Retired accountant lands six-figure win from 20p bet after horse romps home at Doncaster
A former accountant has a horse romping home to victory at Doncaster Racecourse to thank for a cool £450,000 win.
The man from north London, who didn't wish to be named, placed bets worth a total of £2 covering seven horses running at Doncaster, Lingfield and Newbury on Friday.
But the plucky punter thought he initially lost the bet before realising the huge windfall.
Ladbrokes bookmakers said it was when the 9/1 Mcvicar beat the 5/4 hot favourite Saint Catejan in the 5.05pm at Doncaster that six of his picks landed the six-figure sum.
