‘Respected and loved’: Man, 22, killed in Sheffield horror crash as victim is named locally

Tributes have been paid to a man killed in horror road crash in Sheffield overnight after he was named locally.

South Yorkshire Police have said the driver of the vehicle, a 22 year old man, was pronounced dead at the scene in Bawtry Road, Brinsworth.

He has been named on Facebook as Yousif Ibn Abdulla.

Friend Prince Raoof said: “My close friend has died in a car accident. Can’t believe am writing this brother, rest in peace. May Allah great you in higher rank in heaven inshallah, in this blessed month of Ramadan.”

A post on the GoFundMe page reads: “On the 10/05/2020 we all received the devastating news that our beloved Yousif ibn Abdullah has returned to Allah.

“Not only was he a son, a brother and a friend, but he was a respected and loved individual in the community. We are all in debt to Yousif in terms of the kindness and love he has shown us all. Inshallah the highest rank in Jannah is reserved for you.”

A statement said: “At around 12:40am, it is reported that a grey Volkswagen Golf was travelling down Bawtry Road, when it collided with a garden wall of a property and flipped onto its roof.

“The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family are currently being supported by specially trained officers as our enquiries continue. The passenger, a 20-year-old man, was taken to hospital via ambulance to be treated for serious injuries.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, especially anyone who has dash cam footage.

“Please call 101 quoting incident number 32 of 10 May 2020 if you can help.”
